Los Angeles Natives Call for a Rent Strike

With thousands of people forced out of work due to restaurant closures across the country some have simply decided to stop paying rent. “It’s a decision that I have made personally that is both political and very much out of necessity,” says Chris Tyler, 31. Tyler lost his food service job the first week of the California shut down and shortly after that he and his partner decided to no longer pay rent on their one bedroom apartment. California is in its second full month of shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic and many residents are turning to alternative economical means to stay in their homes. They are calling it a #rentstrike, and are calling for state legislature to do more for their financial stability.

Funeral Home Caught Storing Bodies in U-Haul

A funeral home in Brooklyn was reportedly storing an overflow of bodies in U-Haul trucks parked in the street. Neighboring businesses complained of a “foul odor” in the area, and someone reported seeing bodies being stacked in the trucks. A police investigation discovered somewhere between 30 and 60 bodies stacked in the backs of the trucks outside of the funeral home. When the bodies were discovered, multiple agencies were brought to the scene. A spokesperson from the New York State Health Dept stated: “Funeral directors are required to store decedents awaiting burial or other final disposition in appropriate conditions.” Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams reminds everyone that this is not just on the funeral home directors. “It starts at the cemeteries. If we don’t start increasing the bodies we’re putting in the ground, then they’re going to stay above ground.”

Predicting 5 Xbox Series X Games That Are about to Be Revealed

The impact of COVID-19 on the world has been immeasurable, and the gaming industry has had its share of plans ruined by the pandemic. That being said, as of now, we are still expecting two brand new home consoles to launch this holiday season in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Unveilings for the two consoles have been interesting. When it comes to the Xbox Series X, we know the specs, what the box looks like, the slight changes to the controller, and two upcoming games in Halo: Infinite and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Through April, however, we do not know what else is coming. Those two games look amazing, but we want to see more of what is happening in the next generation, and with no E3 this year, we have to wait for whenever this digital event Microsoft will hold instead is. There is good news, though. In a recent reply tweet to a fan, Phil Spencer promised those game announcements are on the way.

There you have it right from the big Xbox boss himself. Game announcements are on the way and not too long of a wait. With this exciting news on the way, let’s let our minds run wild with anticipation for what games could be announced for the Xbox Series X.

Forza Motorsport 8

Forza Motorsport 7 review (PC) impressions | PCWorld

This is the easiest prediction to be coming to the next-gen. For the first time in years, there was no Forza game in 2019, and this is the number one franchise Microsoft likes to use to show off the power of its consoles. With a new console coming out that is being promised as the most powerful console ever, this is almost a guaranteed title to be announced. Expect to see beautiful weather physics, car details, and get a look at how your vehicle interacts with the environment.

Whatever The Initiative is working on

Rare - Rare Necessities: Perfect Dark

Out of all of Microsoft’s newest studios to join the Xbox Game Studios family, The Initiative is the most exciting. This studio was completely built from the ground up by Microsoft, and since its inception has been touted by the corporation as an “AAAA” studio focused on making the largest of games for the Xbox family. Microsoft has been staffing up over the years with big hirings of people who have had significant impacts at big studios, including Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, and Respawn. The game is on lockdown and is the number one secret in gaming everyone wants to know about. After a recent hint from Phil Spencer that the team is new ideas with old things, some are speculating a Perfect Dark reboot. Personally, with this considerable studio being made, I am hoping for something completely new and unique. Whatever this game is, 2020 is the perfect year to announce it, but do not expect it to come out for at least a couple of years.

Fable reboot

Fable Anniversary announced, remastering of Lionhead's original ...

From a secret, everyone wants to know about, to one of the worst kept secrets in gaming. It has been rumored for years that Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series, is working on a new Fable game. It has been confirmed that they are working on at least an RPG, but multiple rumors say it is a new Fable game, which I think would go better as a reboot of the series. After Lionhead Studios (the creators of past games in the series) shutdown, fans have been clamoring for the game to return. This is one of the big series in Xbox history, and if it can return like that, it can only benefit Xbox. It will be interesting to see what Playground can do with a game like this.

Ubisoft unannounced game

You can play Assassin's Creed Odyssey for free this weekend - TechSpot

Ubisoft is set to have their own digital event sometime this year to show off their upcoming games, but they have been known in the past to announce things on Xbox’s stage at E3. The same could happen here with the next Assassin’s Creed game. We know that Rainbow Six Quarantine, Gods & Monsters, and Watch Dogs: Legion is coming, but CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, says five big games will be released by March 2021. With those three accounted for, and an Assassin’s Creed game all but certain, that leaves one mystery game. The big surprise announcement people will want is a Splinter Cell game, and I am willing to bet there is a chance it could happen.

A surprise remaster

Random: Rare Uses Banjo-Kazooie To Remind People To Stay At Home ...

I think a surprise remaster of a dormant Xbox franchise will be on its way soon as well. Recently Microsoft has slowly brought back various games long since forgotten by the corporation. This includes Battletoads, Crackdown, Voodoo Vince, and Killer Instinct. Now, my biggest wish is for Banjo-Kazooie to comeback. They came to Super Smash Bros Ultimate in 2019 and look amazing, so getting a from-the-ground-up remake of the original Banjo-Kazooie game would be music to my nostalgic 90’s kid ears. Other games that could be a surprise remaster include Jade Empire, Blinkx: The Time Sweeper, Jet Set Radio (owned by Sega so they would have to agree) Conker’s Bad Fur Day, or Alan Wake (now owned by Remedy so most likely not an exclusive now). There are plenty of opportunities for Microsoft to continue to bring back past beloved games.

Boeing Cuts Loose 10% of its Workforce

Boeing had a huge loss last year when their 737 Max line was grounded by aviation authorities. This coupled with a hit from the coronavirus pandemic has led the company to downgrade its workforce by about 16,000 people. CEO David Calhoun recorded a video message that was delivered to the employees this week, saying: “We have begun taking action to lower our number of employees by roughly 10 percent through a combination of voluntary layoffs, natural turnover and involuntary layoffs as necessary.” Boeing plans to restart production of the 737 Max in 2021, but Calhoun warns that even at peak production of the new iteration of the plane, the output would not be nearly as high as before.

Fox News Cuts Ties with Political Commentators Diamond and Silk

Diamond and Silk, Lynette Hardaway and Rochelle Richards, are political commentators who have professed in the past to be “Trump’s Biggest Supporters.” Despite this, they have been vocal about lifting the nation wide lockdowns and stay-at-home orders. They posted a tweet that was later removed that said: “The only way we can become immune to the environment; we must be out in the environment. Quarantining people inside of their houses for extended periods will make people sick!” They have also claimed that self-isolation takes away freedom. “We are the United States, not Communist China,” they wrote. “This Deep State experiment that we’ve all been suckered into must end or we will no longer have our freedoms or our country. We were asked to go inside to flatten the curve, not the economy. #OpenUpAmerica”

5 Video Games to Play Online with Friends During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic has been going for awhile now. Sometimes it may feel like there is no end in sight and we all really miss seeing and interacting with our best friends. That being said, the internet makes connecting with people you can’t see easier than ever. Online video games are a great way to waste some quarantine hours with a good friend. You still get to create stories with each other while having a great time. Here are some of the best games to play online with a friend during quarantine.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Patches Are Getting Completely Out of ...

Call of Duty is a safe bet to play with friends that are casual gamers. The series has been running for well over a decade now and is an easy entry for any player. The reboot of the popular Modern Warfare subseries brings back fan favorite maps from the past games. Rust, Crash, and more is on the way via the battle pass system the game adopted. The Warzone battle royale mode that was added earlier this year has also been a big update for the game, bringing in lots of competition across a gigantic map. It does some areas of battle royale differently than others to make it stand out and the best part is if your friend doesn’t own Modern Warfare, they can download Warzone on its own for free.

Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight Killer Guide: The Legion | Screen Rant

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that puts four survivors in an enclosed area trying to repair generators and escape before the killer can sacrifice them to a spider-like entity. There are tons of playable characters that come from renown horror movies including Michael Myers from “Halloween”, Ghostface from “Scream”, Ash from “Evil Dead”, and quite a few more. If you have a group of five, playing Dead by Daylight in a private match is the best way to experience this game. You and your friends will be screaming at each other and having a great time while you rotate out killers. A perfect horror game for a group of friends to play.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Nintendo Switch HACPAABPA - Best Buy

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be the go-to game on Nintendo Switch during quarantine, but unfortunately as you would read in my How Nintendo can make Animal Crossing: New Horizons so much better article, the online components of that game make it not worth the hassle. If you and a group of friends are playing on a Switch, the best online game that will ensure all of you are having a good time is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Wii U version was already a great game, but once it made its way to the Switch, it fixed up the battle mode issues with the original while adding extra characters. Mario Kart is a staple for accessible party games that anyone can enjoy and the eighth iteration may be the best of them all yet.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Sakurai to reveal Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character on Jan ...

Where Mario Kart is the best racing game for a group of casual gamers, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the best fighting game. The cast of playable characters is massive, including over 70 video game characters reaching outside of Nintendo franchises with more on the way via DLC. You can pit longtime what-if situations against each other. Ever wanted to see Banjo Kazooie fight Ridley from Metroid? Probably not, but with the wide cast of characters and customizable modes available, you and your friends can hold tournaments against each other. As a bonus, Super Smash Bros has always been the easiest fighting game for people to get into. Even the most casual of players can get a hold of this game and enjoy themselves.

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves Review — A Whole Lot of Booty

Do you ever dream of living the pirate life? Sailing the open sea, digging up treasure, and firing cannonballs at anyone who gets in your way? You can do that in more in Sea of Thieves. Manning a ship of up to four people, you can search for treasure and make your own stories. Along the way, you will encounter plenty of skeletons, the kraken, megalodons, and other ships of pirates. The game is constantly getting valuable updates, adding more things to play with and making the overall experience better. Get a group of friends together and you will have an experience unlike any other in gaming. As a bonus, if you have game pass on either Xbox One or PC, you can play without purchasing the game and play cross-platform.

Federal Court Prohibits Dallas “Ozone Center” from Offering Coronavirus Treatments

A federal court filed a permanent injunction against Purity Health and Wellness Centers for claiming to treat coronavirus. Jean Juanita Allen, one of the owners, made claims that their ozone treatments increased oxygen in the blood to such high levels that viruses cannot survive. She also claimed that doctors recommended an ozone steam sauna for treatment of COVID-19. Based on an Instagram post, Purity stated that their treatments were preventative for the coronavirus and that the treatment would “eradicate” the virus. “We will not allow anyone to illegally profit by exploiting the fear and anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno.

Louisiana Pastor Put Under House Arrest For Attempting to Back a Bus Over Protestor

0

Louisiana pastor Tony Spell has been charged with misdemeanors for breaking the Louisiana mandate banning religious congregations from meeting. This is not why he was placed under house arrest, however. The pastor turned himself in last week over a charge of aggravated assault when he attempted to back a bus over a protester, Trey Bennett, in front of the church. He was placed under house arrest at that time. Spell violated his house arrest yesterday in order to hold a gathering of over 100 members inside the church. Most of the attendees were not wearing masks and social distancing was not being followed.

WWE Star Velveteen Dream Accused of Sending Nude Photos to Underage Girls

Flamboyant WWE Star Velveteen Dream, aka Patrick Clark Jr, has been accused of sending nude photos to minors. The accuser posted on Reddit that she had been sent a photo and that he had requested one back, blocking her when she did not send it. The WWE Fighter has responded to the accusations, claiming that he was hacked and that he would be working with his team to determine who sent the photo of him. “Be assured I did not communicate inappropriately with anyone. A private photo of mine was shared without my consent of knowledge and I am working with a third party to look into this.” Online commentary is a mixture of people attempting to prove his innocence and others dragging him through the mud.

NASA Developed Ventilator Prototype in Just 37 Days

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, there is a critical shortage of personal protective equipment for workers and ventilators for patients. Ventilators cost over $200,000 a machine and are difficult to mass produce. Engineers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) applied for advanced FDA approvals and created a ventilator that uses fewer parts and therefore could be more cheaply and easily produced. Director of JPL, Michael Watkins, stated “When people at JPL realized they might have what it takes to support the medical community and the broader community, they felt it was their duty to share their ingenuity, expertise and drive.”
