No 6. Baylor outlasts Oklahoma State 49-28

WACO, Texas  – On in very wet and dreary night, the No. 6 Baylor Bears sent their fans home happy after an unexpectedly close and at times tense game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, pulling off the victory 49-28, in a game that was closer than the score indicated. Senior quarterback Bryce Petty threw for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns, both in the first 2:36 of the game, plus added a 21 yard touchdown run to seal the victory. 

Baylor now 9-1, 6-1 Big 12, won it's 15th straight home game to stay in a three-way tie with No. 5 TCU and No. 12 Kansas State for the Big 12 lead with two games left.

Using a balanced offense that featured Devin Chafin running for 106 yards and three touchdowns, while Shock Linwood added 113 yards rushing and a score, Baylor.outgained Oklahoma State 578-397 on the game.

Oklahoma State (5-6, 3-5), has now lost five games in a row to match it's longest losing streak since Mike Gundy's first season as head coach in 2005, the last time the Cowboys didn't go to a bowl game. After a bye next week, Oklahoma State will need to beat Oklahoma in Norman in 2 weeks to become eligible for it's 9th straight Bowl game.

Coming into tonight's game, five of the teams ranked ahead Baylor in the College Football Playoff rankings played and won Saturday. The only other team that was higher-ranked than the Bears is the TCU Horned Frogs was off this weekend. TCU's only loss this season came on October 11th at Baylor after blowing a 21-point lead in the final 11 minutes.

Next week Baylor hits the road to Jerryworld in Arlington Stadium to play Texas Tech.  The Bears end their season home Dec. 6 against Kansas State.
