The story line that everyone is going to grab onto from the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys game is Dez Bryant throwing a tantrum on the sidelines. I do love how the Cowboys are attempting to make it a non-factor by saying Dez’s “passion” is always positive and it’s never me first. Personally, I don’t believe for one second that yesterday Dez was trying to rally the troops. Especially when it looked like Jason Witten was going to rip him a new one and DeMarcus Ware had to step in and calm him down.

Now did this little side show cause them the game? No, poor play calling, clock management, and a penalty at the wrong time cost them the game. Which is very old hat for the Cowboys but that’s not what everyone is going to be talking about in big D.

It’s all about Dez. I found it humorous when Dez said he could do everything Calvin Johnson could do. While physically this may be true, mentally it would be like watching Tyson fight Walter Jr from Breaking Bad.

Do you not think there are times when Calvin Johnson wants to go off on the play calling in Detroit? Do you not think that when he is seeing single coverage and doesn’t get the ball that he’s not wondering what in the world is Stafford thinking? And yet he somehow manages to calmly and collectively talk to Stafford and to Scott Linehan to let them know what he sees on the field.

I understand Dez’s frustration. He was seeing a lot of single coverage and felt they should have been more aggressive giving him looks down the stretch. He wouldn’t be wrong to think that way. It's the way he handled himself however that is going to cause unwanted attention to his team that needs to work on its focus.

In the end I think people will make this a bigger issue than what it really is. Emotions got the better of a player for a few moments on a team that should have won the game. Just seems like a normal Sunday for the Cowboys to me.
